Privacy Policy

Last updated: 30 July 2026 · Applies to the GRade app (iOS and Android) and this website

GRade ("the app", "we") is an independent app for creating and sharing Image Control "recipes" for the Ricoh GR IV camera. We collect as little data as possible: the app has no advertising, no analytics and no tracking, and most of it works without any account at all. This policy explains what little data we do handle, why, and what your rights are.

1. Who is responsible

The data controller for the app and this website is:

Mike Graumann
Email: mike.graumann00@gmail.com

2. What the app does entirely without us

Everything that involves your camera happens locally between your phone and the camera over Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. Recipes you build, recipes you save on your device, your favorites and your app settings (such as the accent color) are stored only on your device. None of this is sent to our servers.

3. What data we process, and why

DataWhenWhy (purpose)
Anonymous device identifier (a random ID generated by the app; it contains no personal information and is not shared across apps)When you like or report a recipe in the community feedTo count each like once per device and to prevent duplicate reports — this is what allows browsing and rating without an account
Email address (from Google or Apple sign-in) and a username you choose onceOnly if you sign in to share your own recipesAccount management, showing you as the author of your uploads, and abuse prevention
Content you share: recipe settings, title, description, tags, and an optional sample photoOnly if you choose to share a recipeMaking it available in the public community feed (photos only after moderation approval)

Legal bases under the GDPR: performance of a contract (providing the community feature you request, Art. 6(1)(b)) and our legitimate interest in preventing abuse of the feed (Art. 6(1)(f)).

4. What we do NOT do

5. Service providers

We use a small number of processors to run the community feature:

Where processing happens on servers outside the EU/EEA, it is covered by the providers' standard contractual clauses or equivalent safeguards.

6. Moderation

Shared sample photos are reviewed before they become visible. Recipes and accounts can be reported in the app; content that violates our Terms of Service can be removed and repeat offenders can be banned from uploading.

7. How long we keep data

8. Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to access, rectify and erase your personal data, the right to restrict or object to processing, and the right to data portability. The fastest way to exercise deletion is directly in the app (delete individual recipes, or delete your whole account under the account menu). For anything else, email us — we answer within a few days. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority.

9. Children

The app is not directed at children. The community feature requires signing in with a Google or Apple account.

10. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will update this page and the "last updated" date above. Substantial changes will be pointed out in the app's release notes.
