Turn the GR IV on and put it into pairing mode: MENU → Setup → Wireless Communication → Pairing.
In GRade, open the Camera tab and tap Connect. Allow the Bluetooth permission when asked.
On the first connection your phone pairs with the camera — a six-digit code appears on both. Check it matches, then confirm on both the camera and the phone.
Build a recipe in the editor and write it to one of the camera's custom slots with To slot.
Optional: tap Connect Wi-Fi for the camera's Wi-Fi features. The app can also wake the camera from sleep and power it off remotely.
Frequently asked questions
The app doesn't find my camera
Close other GR apps first (GR World, GR Control, …). The camera only allows one Bluetooth connection at a time — an app still connected in the background blocks all others. Force-close them, switch the camera off and on, then try again.
First connection ever with this phone? The camera must be in pairing mode (see above).
Make sure Bluetooth is on and the camera is nearby and awake.
Does GRade work with the GR III / GR IIIx?
Writing recipes to the camera is GR IV only — the GR III's Bluetooth interface has no writable Image Control parameters, so no app can do it. The recipe editor and the community feed work fine without a camera, so GR III shooters can still browse looks and dial them in manually.
I wrote a recipe while the dial was on U1–U3 and it disappeared
That's camera behavior: in U modes, written slots are temporary. Run Save User Mode Box on the camera afterwards, or write recipes while the dial is on P/Av/Tv/M — there they are stored permanently.
Do I need an account?
No. Browsing, rating and downloading community recipes is anonymous. Signing in (Google or Apple) is only needed to share your own recipes — you'll pick a permanent username the first time.
How do I delete my content or account?
Delete a single shared recipe via the ⋮ menu on your own recipe card in the feed. Delete your whole account (including everything you shared) via the account menu in the top bar — this is permanent.
Why does a recipe look different on my camera than in the sample photo?
Sample photos depend on light, subject and exposure. Recipes carry the Image Control settings (and optionally WB/ISO/EV); everything else is up to your scene — that's the film-lab part of the fun.
